Well-known Wath and Thurnscoe families were united by the wedding on Saturday at Wath Parish Church of Miss Muriel Winifred Bollans, younger daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. H. Bollans, of Houghton Road, Thurnscoe, to Dr. William Bertram Waddington, of Manchester, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Waddington, of Fitzwilliam Road. Wath.

The Vicar of Wath, the Rev. Bertram Russell officiated, assisted by the Vicar of Mexborough, the Rev. E. H. P. RawlinsThe service was choral and included Mendelssohn’s “Wedding March” and the hymn “0 Perfect Love,” played by the organist of St. Helen’s Parish Church. Thurnscoe, Mrs. T. Hardwick.

The bride was given away by her father, headmaster of Thurnscoe Hill Senior School. Mr. T. H. Bollans, and was attired in a navy moire taffeta dress with white lace petticoat edging and collar to match with a navy and white bow, navy Breton sailor hat, and open-work shoes and gloves. Hc r bouquet was of pink rosebuds and fern. The bridesmaid, Miss Margaret Norwood, the bride’s niece, wore a white taffeta gown with a white net overlay, and lace frills, a head-dress of net trimmed with forget-me-nets, and carried a posy of forget-me-nots and pink carnations. Her gold bangle was the gift of the bridegroom.

The bride’s mother wore a powder blue coat relieved by a carnation spray, over a pink and blue floral crepe de Chine dress with hat, shoes and gloves to tone. The bridegroom’s mother favoured a navy blue silk two-piece with a spray of cream roses and accessories to tone. Mr. Percy Waddington was best man.

The reception, given by the bride’s parents and attended by nearly 50 guests, was held at Church House, Wath, after which the couple left for a touring honeymoon in London and the South. The bride travelled in a squirrel coat over a powder blue piece suit, with hat, shoes and gloves to tone. Among the numerous presents was a wireless set from the bridegroom’s associates and a case of fish eaters from the staff of the Thurnscoe Hill School, where the bride had held a teaching appointment.

The future residence will be ‘Wentworth,” Werneth Road, Woodley, near Stockport.
