The Thurnscoe troop of Scouts formed a guard of honour when their popular Assistant Scoutmaster, Mr. William Henry Tansley, only son of Mr. and Mrs, William Tansley, of 141, Deightonby Street, Thurnscoe East, was married at Thurnscoe Central Hall Methodist Church on Monday to Miss Olive Hepworth, of Goldthorpe, second daughter of the late Mr and Mrs. J. Hepworth.
The Rev. J. Matthewman conducted the ceremony. The hymns “The Voice that breathed o’er Eden” and “O Perfect Love were sung, and Mr G. Mann was organist.
Given away by her brother-in-law, Mr. C Banks, the bride was attired in a white satin gown trimmed with lilies of the valley and carried red carnations and fern. attendants were Mrs C. Banks, Miss Gladys Hill and Miss Agnes Tansley. They where dressed in blue ankle-length taffeta dresses and short veils and wreaths. They carried yellow tulips and fern. The bridegroom’s mother favored a navy blue flowered creation with hat to match. Mr. Charles Ashwood was best man and the groomsman was Mr Jack Hepworth, bride’s brother. A reception was held in the Thurnscoe Co-operative Guild Hall.
