The marriage was solemnised at St Helen’s Church, Thurnscoe, on Saturday, of Miss Hilda Hopkins, younger daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Hopkins, 1, John Street Thurnscoe, and Mr. Herbert Edward Heal, only son of Mrs. and the late Mr. W. H. Heal, 23, Merrill Road, Thurnscoe.
The Rev. D. E. Hughes officiated and Mrs. T. Hardwicke was organist.
Given away by her father, the bride, who carried red roses, wore a gown of heavy white figured brocade, cut on classical lines with a draped neckline and a string of pearls, the bridegroom gift to her. A wreath of feathers and orange blossom held her white embroidered tulle veil.
She was attended by Miss Helen M. Hill and Miss Betty Brooke, wearing dresses cut on Edwardian lines with a bustle effect, the former in to turquoise corded taffeta and the latter in rose coloured crepe-de-Chine. The maids, who received a diamante brooch and a silver identity bracelet respectively, carried pink carnations.
Mr. W. G. Spencer was best man and the groomsman was Mr R. Brook, of Horbury Bridge. The honeymoon is being spent at Blackpool, the bride travelling in a mid-blue suit with burgundy accessories.
Silver horse-shoes were presented to the bride by Peter Brook and Sheila Anne Hudson.
