Mr. P. G. Houghton (Thurnscoe) and Miss J. Hopper (Goldthorpe). The wedding took place at Goldthorpe Parish Church on January 2nd of Miss Janet Hopper, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. Hopper of 106, Main Street, Goldthorpe and Mr. Peter George Houghton o, second son of Mr and Mrs. J. Makepeace of Thurnscoe. The Rev. E. R. Gaskell officiated.
The bride, given away by her father, wore a gown of lace with a diamante and pearl neckline and a veil and a wreath. She carried red roses and lilies of the valley, and was attended by Misses Nora Coates and Sylvia Fudge. The first maid wore a ballerina length pink nylon dress, and the second a ballerina length dress of blue brocade. Both carried prayer books and carnations.
Best man was Mr. W. Wassell and groomsman was Mr. B. Reynolds. The bride’s mother wore a beige dress and nylon fur coat with beige accessories.
A reception was held at the Goldthorpe Hotel.
