Toes – Woodcock

On Saturday at St. Helen’s Church, Mr. G. H. Toes, only son of Mr. and Mrs. T. W. Toes, of 2 Roman Street, Thurnscoe East, was married to Miss Doris M. Woodcock, youngest daughter of the late Mr. J. Woodcock and Mrs. Spencer, of 28, Taylor Street Thurnscoe, the Rev. G. H. Wheeler officiating.

The bride, who was given away by Mr. S. Hardy, of Leeds, was attired in white satin, white corded silk shoes, and silk stockings. A long white tulle veil, headdress of orange blossom, and a bouquet of white Madonna lilies and smilax completed a pretty ensemble.

She was attended by three adult maids, Miss Whitworth, of Thurnscoe. Miss E. Woodcock, of Huddersfield, and Miss Cooper, of the staff of Buckingham Palace, London, who wore dresses of lemon silver flowered satin with cape collars and short puff sleeves, satin kid shoes and silk stockings, with head-dresses of silver leaves, and carried pink carnations and tassi. A small attendant was Miss Greta Lintim, who wore a dress of frilled blue flowered satin, headdress of pink and blue flowers, and carried a bouquet of pom pom dahlias, sweet peas and smilax.

A nephew of the bride, Master Dennis Hardy, of Leeds, acted as page. The best man was Mr. J. R. Clapton, of Sheffield, and the groomsmen Mr. D. Me- Kenning and Mr. H. Gutteridge, both of Thurnscoe.

Flowers were sent by Mr. Bratley, head gardener to Mr. R. W. Armitage, of Farmley Hall, Leeds, where the bride was formerly employed. A reception was held in the Scouts Hut, and on Sunday the happy couple went for their honeymoon to the North East Coast
