Airman A Prisoner
Mr. and Mrs. J. Windle, of 57, Church Street, Thurnscoe, received news on Christmas Eve that their son, Sgt. Jack Windle (Flight Engineer) was a prisoner of war in Germany, after being posted missing on November 18th, 1943.
On Christmas Day they received a letter from their son to say he was safe and uninjured, and receiving good treatment and good food, thanks to the Red Cross.
Sgt. Windle is 22, and joined the R.A.F. in July, 1939, and has been on many operational flights.
He was educated at the Thurnscoe Hill School, and later was employed in a shop at Mexborough.
