Clever Young Soldier.
Pte. Peter Bell (19), R.A.M.C, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Bell of 10, Wynn View, Thurnscoe, has done well since joining the Army Medical Corps 15 months ago. He was educated at Thurnscoe Hill School, and was employed at the Montagu Hospital, Mexborough, and later at Sheffield Infirmary as a plaster porter.
On joining the R.A.M.C., he applied for permission to attend the Army Medical College in London, but was refused, as he did not possess a School Certificate. His Colonel was interviewed, and through his intervention Pte. Bell was allowed to go to the college. He was the only candidate with only an elementary school training. He has done well, passing all his examinations as radiographer. He is the youngest of a large family and three elder brothers are serving in the R.A.F.
