Verses On Salerno
Cpl. J. Hooley who is serving with the Mediterranean Forces, has sent home to his wife Mrs. Hooley, who resides at 34, George Street, Thurnscoe East, with their children, some verses he has written about the Salerno battle.
We have not the space to reproduce them here, but they are certainly full of the spirit of confidence in victory .
Cpl. Hooley has been in the Army four years and has been abroad for 12 months.
Before joining up he was employed at Hickleton Main Colliery.
