Airman’s Funeral

A/C1 George Henry Harrison (21), R.A.F., who was killed an active service on Sunday, Nov. 14th, was the only child of Mr. and Mrs. W. Harrison, of 23, Dane Street, Thurnscoe East, and was married only nine months ago, his wife residing with her parents, Mr. and Mrs, T. Hulley, 4, Monsal Street, Thurnscoe.

Joining the R.A.F. a year and eight months ago, A/C. Harrison was employed at Messrs. Brough’s, Ltd., Thurnscoe, before enlistment.

The interment took place at Thurnscoe cemetery on Saturday, with military honours. “C” Company Home Guard provided bearers and a firing party. The Last Post was sounded by Bugler Layland.

A large party of sympathisers attended the funeral.  At The Central Hall the Rev. A. W. Sheldon conducted the service.
