Hickleton Main Success After Tie
Twenty-two teams took part in the annual competition organised by the Denaby Main Colliery ambulance team and held in the Denaby Welfare Hall on Saturday. A large number of spectators were present.
The judges, Dr. Bell (Conisborough), Dr. Hart (Armthorpe), Ambulance Officers E. Ross and J. W. Cooke, had only three questions to ask the competitors and most of the marks were awarded for stretcher work.
The test was an accident in a busy street, a pedestrian knocked down by a motor car and with severe injuries to thigh, jaw and arm.
Hickleton Main and Manvers No. 2 tied with 179 points and to decide which should hold the Denaby Welfare Cup for the next twelve months the judges set an extra individual test to each captain, and the Hickleton captain won by four points. Thus his team carried off the cup for the first time.
Manvers Main No. 2 won the shield given by the Denaby Main Colliery team.
Mr. Parker, captain of the Manvers No. 2 team gained full marks in the individual test and won the silver cup. For the remaining three positions six competitors tied and had to undergo another individual test.
