Hickleton Miner Killed.
Yesterday, Mr. J. Kenyon Parker, deputy coroner, held inquiry at; the Institute, Goldthorpe, regarding the death of Enos Dainty (63), of Goldthorpe Lane Ends, who was killed at the Hickleton Main Colliery, on Friday.
Attending the inquiry were Mr. W. Wilde (manager of the colliery), Mr. J. Minnikin (undermanager), Mr. Wilson (H. M. Inspector Mines), and Mr. John Dixon (representing the Yorkshire Miners’ Association).
John Dobinson, of 152, Main Street, Goidthorpe, said he and the deceased were coming up the haulage road to leave the colliery, when they met some empty tubs being lowered down.
Witness, for safety, went into refuge hole, but whilst standing outside a minute’ he noticed some full tubs coming up. Their attention was drawn off the full tubs, one of which knocked deceased down, a wheel passing , over him. When extricated Dainty was dead.
The jury brought in verdict of “Accidental death
