Leading Seaman, Jack Hurd (24), son of Mrs. Hurd, 53, Deightonby Street, Thurnscoe, is seriously ill with malaria and jaundice in a Scottish hospital, where he has been since June 5th.

His mother and brother were with him all the weekend until Tuesday, when a change for the better was noted.

Leading Seaman Hurd is a regular and joined the Navy eight years ago.
