Getting On In Navy

Steward H. Sanderson, a Thurnscoe youth serving in the Navy, is a son of Mr. and Mrs. D. Sanderson, of 11, Queen Street, and writes home to say he is happy and hopes everyone at home is as happy as he is.

He is 20, and joined the Navy 18 months ago, having worked his way up to be steward. He is sitting for further examinations.

Before joining up he was employed at Hickleton Colliery.

His mother and father have been regular readers of this paper for 38 years, and every Monday the paper is forwarded to their son, who looks forward to it eagerly.
