Died From Burns

Mr. and Mrs. S. Hill, of 48, Thorneley Crescent, Thurnscoe, have received official information from the ministry that their second son, Gunner Derick Hill, died on March 19th through burns received in a battle accident in Italy.

Gunner Hill was 21 and joined the Royal Artillery three years ago.  He took part in the first Anzio landing and was with the First Army in North Africa.  He had been abroad for 1½ years.

He was educated at The Hill Modern Boys School.
