One of the Reds

Lance Corporal Edward Humble (22), R.A.S.C., son of Mr and Mrs R Humble, of Hanover Square, Thurnscoe East, joined the Forces in 1939, and is serving in England.

Well known in local football circles, he was a member of the Barnsley F.C. when he joined up prospects of a promising career in football.

He assisted local teams, including the Rovers and Lidgett Lane before joining Barnsley. He is an old Wath Grammar School boy and was in the school rugby team.
