Soldier – McKay, Horace – Searchlight Unit

Gunner Horace B. McKay, only son of Mr. and Mrs. H. McKay, of 19. Lidgett Lane, Thurnscoe East, joined the Forces last May and is serving with a searchlight unit attached to the Royal Artillery.

Educated at the Hill School, he was employed at the Hickleton Main Colliery and was prominent in the Thurnscoe and Goldthorpe Salvation Army bands.

He receives the “South Yorkshire Times” every week and looks forward to it, as it keeps him in touch with all the local news.
