Rescued From Japs
Gnr. Alfred Ogden R.A., son of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Ogden, 20, Dane Street, Thurnscoe East, received a great welcome home last week, after being a prisoner in Japanese hands since the fall of Singapore.
Gnr. Ogden, who is 23, was one of the survivors picked up from a sunken Japanese transport ship, and one of 60 British men to be rescued. They were landed in America and travelling right across from West to East. Gnr. Ogden speaks highly of the American people, and says they were treated like lords by them.
He declined to say anything about the Japanese in an interview with our representative.
