Signaller C. Spence, of the Royal Corps of Signals, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Spencer, of Low Grange, Thurnscoe, who was a reservist and went to France on September 1st, has only been in Thurnscoe for 10 months in the last nine years.

He joined up at the age of 16, and served throughout the trouble in China in 1932, also serving at Malta and Palestine.
