Killed In Action
Official information as been received that Private Richard C. Street, Leicester Regiment, was killed in action on August 30th, 1944.
He was the son of Mrs. R. Smith and the late Mr. George Street of 83, Thornely Crescent, Thurnscoe. He would have been 21 in November and joined the Black Watch in September, 1940. He later transferred to the West Yorkshires and was sent overseas in April 1942. He saw service in Africa and later in Italy.
Before joining up he was employed at Hickleton Main Colliery.
