Safe from Singapore

Arthur Newbury, of 2, Pangbourne Road, Thurnscoe, who has been in Malaya over 12 months, was reported missing after the fall of Singapore.

His parents have received a cable from him saying he has landed safely in Australia. They presume from newspaper reports that he sailed in the last ship to leave Java, and without convoy. The ship was dive-bombed.

Cpl. Newbury is in the Royal Army Pay Corps. He was educated at Doncaster Grammar School.
